Canterbury is a cathedral city in Kent that’s full of history and charm, whilst also boasting a great deal of convenience, impressive transport links and close proximity to the coast. With Whitstable and Herne Bay both being around 20 minutes away by car, you can be out of the city and at the seaside in no time. It’s also close to Sandwich, Faversham, Ashford and Dover, so there’s no shortage of amenities to choose from in the surrounding areas. Canterbury also boasts two train stations, both of which offer direct services to London, which is why the city is a popular option for commuters and families who want to enjoy a slightly quieter city life, without being too far from the hustle and bustle of London.

Why is Canterbury popular with buyers and investors?

Canterbury has a lot to offer, and it’s equally appealing to commuters, families, young professionals and investors. It’s a city that combines historic architecture and a traditional vibe, with modern amenities. There’s two universities in Canterbury – Canterbury Christ Church University and Kent University – and excellent schools, as well as a busy city centre with restaurants, cafes, shops and attractions. It’s also easy to access the Kent countryside from Canterbury, as well as many coastal towns, striking the perfect balance between the convenience of city life, and the tranquility of being amongst some of Kent’s most tranquil areas.

Canterbury has two stations, Canterbury West and Canterbury East, and both have direct services running to London. From Canterbury East, you can be at London Victoria in 1 hour and 40 minutes, and a train from Canterbury West to London St Pancras International can be as quick as 54 minutes. Trains from Canterbury also run regularly to Dover and Ramsgate.
